About Richmond Soccer News

As a parent who has children in the Richmond soccer system, I’ve frequently been annoyed by the amount of digging I need to do in order to know what program is best for my kids.

For decades, boys played in Richmond FC (with co-ed teams up to U9) and girls played in RGSA (now Richmond United), which at least kept things orderly. But recently attitudes to single-gender programming have changed, and the Canadian Soccer Association and BC Soccer have moved to encouraging multi-gender clubs, which has brought these two entities into sudden competition.

That’s probably a good thing on multiple levels – competition is inherently healthy, though not necessarily when you’re restricted to fighting over the same pool of kids, and it really doesn’t make sense to silo kids away from each other just because they have a different chromosome setup.

This site is run by parents of soccer players in Richmond and seeks to bridge the information gap between the clubs, so that parents can see honestly and openly what each club offers.
