Wevers Family post secondary soccer scholarship brings $250,000 to RFC’s pioneering girls

From the Richmond FC website:

In 2020, during the height of a pandemic, girls teams from three age groups took a chance that Richmond FC would provide them a happy, safe, competitive place to practice and play football. That wasn’t an easy decision, and more definitely was a brave one.

To reward that commitment, a local family decided to establish a scholarship fund for all girls who pioneers the RFC girls program, and commit to playing soccer until they graduate.

The 45 girls who play on Richmond FC’s 2020/2021 fall/winter U-11, U-12 and U-17 teams were informed during a Zoom video conference session that, should they complete their playing careers with RFC, demonstrate community leadership, and choose to pursue post-secondary education, they’ll be able to draw $5,000 from a fund being set up by parents of one of their club mates, Heidi and Bryan Wevers.

The fund, which is administered by Heidi and Bryan Wevers, will make $250,000 in total scholarship funds available.

The Club is honoured to champion this initiative and so proud to support the Wevers. Thank-you.
